Siderite & Lazulite (Rapid Creek, Yukon Territory, Canada)

Here's something special - Generous Siderite and upon it, a few crystals of Lazulite.

Yes, Lazulite, not Lapis Lazuli.

Lazulite is a lustrous, indigo-blue crystal. It is a semi-precious mineral that became Yukon's official gemstone in 1976. It is rare and beautiful, and its monetary value stems from both its beauty and scarcity.

Well-formed crystals of the gemstone occur in only a few places in the world. Of all the locales, the ones from Yukon are some of the finest in the world because of the colour and crystalline qualities.

The siderite on it is also quite special because of its vitreous lustre. Normally, siderite commonly occurs as gangue (waste rock). However, once in awhile, it forms in beautiful crystal structures, just like it has on this piece.

Note: this luscious piece has lazulite on both sides of the specimen!

Market Rate: $180.00
