Imperial Green Yaogangxian Fluorite (Yaogangxian Mine, Hunan, China)
56 x 52 x 53mm
Hailing from a small, 2018 pocket, this dark, cool-green yaogangxian fluorite cube is rare because few of this colour are available, and even fewer of this size.
Fun fact: Did you know that Yaogangxian fluorites are harvested by blasting, not mining? That's why it's so rare to get such large cubes, or even small perfect ones.
Very gemmy, the shade of green in this piece changes from warm to cool depending on the angle of light that enters it. When back lit, you can also see clear, dark purple/green concentric bands within as well. On the edges are, again, a grey-purple band of colour. Even with some sunlight filtering through the window, the glow in this is absolutely mesmerising.
And, of course, being a Yaogangxian, it is UV-reactive!
