Raw Ethiopian Opals from Wollo Province - Set C
About this Set:
Set of 2 Precious FIRE OPAL raw pieces and 1 milky Precious Opal raw piece. The frontmost fire opal piece has a lovely translucence that gives depth to the play-of-colour. The Back fire opal piece has more intensity of orange and this adds to the intensity of the red play-of-colour at the tip. The precious opal is more opalescent because of its milky white base.
Height of the three pieces: 1.6cm to 1.7cm
———
Much of the opal produced from the Wollo Province has an orange, yellow or reddish body color along with play-of-color. The orange, yellow or reddish body color meets the definition of a fire opal, and the play-of-color meets the definition of a precious opal. Meeting both criteria, these opals could be called "precious fire opals” or “precious opals”.
