Discovered in April 2022, Aquadité is a new type of Chalcedony rich in copper minerals - native copper, malachite, chrysocolla, and cuprite, all thrown about within the chalcedony like a celebration of confetti.

It was discovered by a group of local miners who were clearing a road when their bulldozer hit a rock. The rock split, revealing the party of greens, blues and coppers.

its name, Aquadité, was given by the gemologist Yianni Melas - "aqua" for the watery blues and greens, and "dité" for the goddess Aphrodite, goddess of love, the sea, and copper. A romantic name, if ever there was one!

It's only been released recently. As of May 2023, when Yianni Melas shared about his discovery, it had not yet been released to the world. And we have a whole lot!

We've spent a lot of time polishing them as much as possible, and then coated them in mineral oil to ensure the copper doesn't oxidise. Many sellers will keep them in water to increase its aesthetic translucency (which goes away once the water evaporates) but that actually increases the rate of oxidation and damage.

Market Rate: $150 to $200
