—————
Blue aragonite is a variety of aragonite, a calcium carbonate material. It gets its strikingly blue colour from copper inclusions and it is this unique, pastel blue colour that has collectors scrabbling over it. It's also why it has taken us so long to get our hands on this piece. Commonly found in rough chunks or tumbles and polished palms, blue aragonite normally grows in orthorhombic and acicular formations. Between the two, acicular (needle-like) formations are more unusual.

Ranging between 3.5 and 4 on the Mohs scale, one reason why it's so hard to get good acicular blue aragonite specimens is the fragility of each specimen.

Energy practitioners collect blue aragonite for its gentle, compassionate energy. It is also used to enhance communication skills.
