Sugilite, Bustamite & Richterite Pendant (Wessels Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa) - 2310-SP-SA3

Sugilite is a relatively rare pink to purple mineral. It was first discovered and described in 1944, when it was found in Japan. Later, it was also discovered in Mont Saint-Hilaire (Canada), the Wessels Mine (South Africa) Italy, Australia and India.

In recent years, Sugilite has become even more expensive and popular because of news that the Wessels mine was running out of Sugilite - which started a frenzy. That's also where these pendants come from. 😬

Adding to that rarity is the presence of Richterite in one of these pendants.

Also most of these pendants have bustamite in the mix.

Richterite is also known as "blue sugilite" and is found only 10% as often as sugilite. (Note, it is not the same material as sugilite; the name is a misnomer.)

So a really special collection that I just had to drop!
