"Landscape" Selenite Slabs on Matrix (China) - SSMS1
About This Specimen:

This piece is capable of standing on its own. It bears a lot of clarity because it does not have any matrix on the back to block the light going through it. I like how the haphazard growth of the crystal blades coincidentally create this pyramid or mountain formation to it as well. Backlit by some sunlight, you'd have an amazing and beautiful landscape like a sun rising over the mountains. In the matrix, you'll find very tiny selenite blades that have grown into the matrix as well, and they are scintillatingly reflective. There is some hematite in the matrix.

Also known as Selenite windows, these beautiful pieces are part of large chunks of selenite, harvested with the hematite-rich matrix. Interestingly, the hematite presents in both the orange/brown form as well as the black form.
These pieces are especially beautiful because of their high clarity, which is what makes them such perfect windows.
Those pieces with the matrix growing on the back (instead of just under) are also reminiscent of Lodolite Garden Quartz because they create beautiful landscapes with which to immerse yourself. Especially useful when you've had a difficult or exhausting day, and can't escape to nature for a breather.
