Iowaite (Western-Siberian Region, Russia)

Iowaite is a rare magnesium, iron, chlorine, hydroxide crystal and member of the Hydrotalcite group that crystallizes in the form of masses, fibers, and prismatic shards. It can be found in shades of green, yellow, blue, colorless, white, and even violet.

Of these, a purple variety from Russia was recently discovered, and it's rarity stems from its chromium inclusions.

This type can only be found in the Altai Republic of Russia, which is where this piece comes from. And if you know anything about what's going on over there, you can understand why getting specimens from Russia can be hard! ;)

We've brought this in before and they were snapped up quick. Here's another piece we've managed to get!

For every $15 spent, we will plant 1 tree to offset the carbon cost of mining, shipping and packaging crystals. These are real and natural products, and so might have some flaws or imperfections. We have done our best to pick the best pieces available, but nature is often imperfectly perfect. Therefore, please only make the purchase if you are alright with this.
