Herkimer Diamond Specimen (Herkimer, New York, USA)

SGD 75.00

There's a lot of cheap "Herkimer" diamonds in the market but they aren't true Herkimers because they don't come from Herkimer County, New York. Many, nowadays, come from Pakistan.

This raw specimen is real Herkimer, hand mined from Herkimer, New York. And it is quite special because very often, you find them in individual crystals. This, however, is a raw matrix with lots of little Herkimer Diamonds, mined whilst these little ones were still in the process of forming. Alas, they will never continue to grow, like Peter Pan.

Weight: 103g
Height: 5.1cm
Breadth: 5.36cm

But, what are Herkimer diamonds? Well, for one thing, they are not diamonds. They are double-terminated quartz that form within dolomite. They were given the name "diamond" because of their clarity and natural faceting - 18 facets in total, 6 around the centre, and 6 on each point.

For every $15 spent, we will plant 1 tree to offset the carbon cost of mining, shipping and packaging crystals. These are real and natural products, and so might have some flaws or imperfections. We have done our best to pick the best pieces available, but nature is often imperfectly perfect. Therefore, please only make the purchase if you are alright with this.
