Fluorite with Barite (Berbes mining area, Ribadesella, Asturias, Spain)
65 x 54mm
This specimen has many, grape-jelly coloured fluorite phantom cubes. That is to say the cubes are a pale lilac with grape-purple cores. The edges of the cubes are nice and clean with few instances of damage.
Under the fluorite cubes are a mixture of thin barite sheets and an abundance of tiny quartz points.
About the Berbes Mine:
The Berbes Mine is famed for its blue-purple fluorite cubic crystals.
Mining began in the 1930s and was a very popular mine. Alas, because of the physical conditions of the mine, and lack of financing across the decades, fewer and fewer quality specimens came out of it over time.
Production stopped many years ago, so whatever's in the market is all that's left.

For every $15 spent, we will plant 1 tree to offset the carbon cost of mining, shipping and packaging crystals.
